I don’t know how people like my older cousin has worked at the same company for since 1998

She’s 45. She’s been working at the same company since I was 6 years old. Same exact place. Everyone else I know, including my own father, has changed jobs over the years. Different companies. Everything. She gets “employee appreciation day” which is similar to what that viral video of that guy from Burger King got. Candy, a company hat, something for her dogs. And she is so happy the way that BK dude was. Finally she’s got to work from home today and posted a pic of herself at home, and someone goes “are you working from home now permanently?” She says “No. Back to the office on Monday, sad.” Her boss was probably just out. Meanwhile people like my brother work from home permanently, his company is based in another state. With all her skills, experience and time she’s worked at this company. She could find a better company…

She could find a better company that offers work from home permanently, too! Why do people do this to themselves and why would you stay at the same company since 1998. I mean, holy crap, I’m thinking of all the things I’ve done since age 6… from elementary, middle school, my family moving in 8th grade, graduating HS, college, dating, working my own jobs… I’m thinking of my favorite shows that were in their prime in 1998 like Buffy or Sabrina The Teenage Witch. So long ago.

And the entire time she’s been sitting in the same office. Holy fuck.
