So this happened in 2021 but I’ve been thinking about it recently.
I used to work at a popular chain restaurant in the kitchen. I truly loved it as I’ve been in the restaurant industry my whole life & it’s the kind of work I really enjoyed! I was one of the best in my position. I worked 6 days a week, and I often picked up extra hours, always stayed late, worked every holiday, always on time etc I was basically the perfect employee.
Minimum wage in my state at the time was 10$. My position was getting 11$. There’s about 5 of us that work my position. Anyways minimum wage went up to 11 in like January ‘21 I think. We each had to have a meeting with the kitchen manager to discuss a raise. It would make sense that I would get at least 12$, right? Since we were making 1$ above minimum.
I was given 11.25. The manager also said that it was the lowest raise they gave, and that the 4 others in this position got 12 or more.
As far as I know the others never picked up extra hours, half of them never worked a holiday & they constantly got complaints.
Just proves that hard work & loyalty does NOT always pay off. I quit a month later.
I poured my heart and soul into that place & apparently they thought I was the worst employee.
