So my gf 49f works in a bar with QuickDraW. QuickDraW is a lotto game that runs all day everyday every 2 min 30 sec and you can bet and win and whatever. Now you can only legally pay 600$ out because it’s under the taxable amount on a gambling win.
So a guy won 920$ and asked her to check ticket. Normally you run winning ticket thru , it tells you what to pay out , and the ticket is marked as paid and cant be cashed again. So she checked his ticket and ir told her to return ticket and have him fill out a form.
So here’s the turn. She goes to owner and asked what to do. He gave unclear instructions and 920$ to give him. Now she should have taken the winning ticket. That’s on her. But the owner never specified. So the guy threw ticket out and took his money. The lotto draw was now 920$ short because she never technically cashed it out.
When my gf realized what happened she paid the owner 920$. Now she’s definitely at some fault but at most 1/2 her fault. As a business owner who did a sketchy lotto thing he never should have taken all that money. Half maybe. 200 even nicer. But all of it is ridiculous.
She said she is responsible for her draw she could get fired over it. So you pay to keep your job.
Besides legally issues this is morally so wrong. It’s 2 shifts for her. It’s chump change for him.
I just feel like you take care of employee and this is beyond wrong.
TLDR: gf made mistake witt lotto draw and boss personally paid customer 920$ without instruction to gf to get lotto ticket from him. She paid it out of pocket. Owner should have covered it
