Co-workers don’t own mistakes

Had a situation come up where a project was allowed to skip some steps listed a meeting date. It was pointed out to me by another gal and then we sent an email to some folks that might know. A co-worker responder with screen shots of her timesheet and CALENDAR to show she was working and did not have a meeting that day about the project to skip. We emailed (separately) another guy and cc’d the first worker he outed that worker as the one to allow it pass. Does this bullshit happen all the time with other people or am I in a special realm of hell?
