Hey there, just wanted to rant about some bullshit for a minute.
So I’m 23 and I landed a nice white collar job last year. Worked there for 6 months and they demoted me to a shittier position based on a misunderstanding and one mistake. Apparently I had been doing something wrong and they allowed that to happen for over a month without telling me and demoted me. So I left. I took several months off, like 6/7 and I’m looking for a job again after going through a depressive state and wasting all my money and ruining my 750 credit score, because I just couldn’t bear the thought of going back to work especially somewhere I thought I had moved beyond like retail again.
So I’m searching, have been since June and I can’t get on anywhere. I applied to Aldi, got declined with no reason. They have a hiring sign in their entryway. Keep in mind I have retail, management and office experience. I applied to other places and hear nothing, not even a no.
I applied to a bank, they loved me, but told me they check credit and debt. Why? Why the one time I have bad credit this job requires that. It shouldn’t be related. How can I get a decent job to fix my credit and pay bills, if they refuse me because of my credit?
My buddy referred me to his car dealership as a “recon specialist” it pays $13 an hour and I would’ve taken pictures of cars and updated the websites. Boss wanted to hire me, but had to go through the big guy in the suit. He gave them a hard time and questioned my gap on my resume. Refused to hire me for a $13 an hour position for a gap. The whole gap argument pisses me off because sure you could call me lazy or whatever you want, but I could’ve had the most legitimate reason in the world for not working, and they just wouldn’t know because they didn’t bother calling me. Crippled? Sick? Taking care of family member? Doesn’t matter, they don’t care. I was just depressed and wanted to give up. My buddy talked to the big guy and told him I did doordash, and he said that doesn’t count. Okay lol. So a reference and a manager approving of hiring me just doesn’t matter to the guy in a suit who will probably never even work with me. But he gets to go home in his nice car, to his nice house and deny me from having $13 an hour.
So I walk into a Kroger for a walk-in interview. Tell them my experience and they say I’m over qualified and to apply for their recruitment team on website. Awesome! Checks website today, no such offer. There should be 5 openings according to them. Nothing.
It’s all so upsetting. I will lose my home and car, girlfriend and more if I don’t start working this month. “Nobody wants to work anymore” bullshit. I’m trying and nobody cares.
