I called out today. I woke up, to a screaming headache that I've had for 3 weeks and “noped” out of work.
No, I don't care. I don't care that the others will be short staffed. This is on the owners for not backfilling the 3 open positions and just acting like we can limp along. This was our fuck up (the staffs, for stepping up and covering and getting the job done), now they think we should do it everyday and they can pay 3 less people. So now, they can save $150k+ a year in wages and make the same money. We should have let the place fall into chaos and forced the hiring.
They'll all be mad at me, and I'm sure the manager will say something to me. I don't care. I will tell everyone there, this is on the managers and owners not hiring anyone, that screwed them, not one person w a cluster headache.
