So I own a business, great employees and im there everyday. I made an investment into a new facility a few years ago which I have sunk costs in, and haven’t profited from. My employees presented the wish to work 4 10s with Friday overtime option which was immediately shut down by their supervisor who thinks its still 1950. He offered a .68 cent raise instead.
I gave them what they wanted plus a raise, citing that the extra day on Friday to take a weekend vacation and actually enjoy it was necessary for my employees well being, along with them being available to patronize bars / restaurants on Thursday (which is a net economical benefit). Being 22 years younger than this supervisor he’s mad, and I don’t care.
When you realize that power comes through empowerment of others, not wealth, then you can know you actually have something worth working for. I hate seeing these little McBusinesses taking advantage. Owners need to listen to their employees!!!!!
FYI – were non union. Any employee can come from the floor to my office and have coffee and tell me their problems. We see this page and were not all bad!
Hoping someone sees this and realizes how arrogant they are and changes. Thats all.
