I am in the process of looking for a new job. A few weeks ago, I found one that looked promising and applied. To my surprise, I got an interview and they already asked for my transcripts and references.
I had given them my references, but they insisted on my current supervisor. So, I had to get one from her. She didn't realize I was looking and truthfully, I don't work with her that closely. I work out of my home when they have work for me. It is a few hours a week, but I was led to believe I would earn a living.
Now, I travel for work, too, and with the gas prices, this company has not increased their mileage reimbursement. They are “thinking about it”.
My supervisor doged me for 2 days and finally got back to me. I gently explained that I had an opportunity come across my way and they were checking references. I further explained that I could still work a few hours for them, as well, just not put in as much travel in the 10 counties they want me to cover (this prevents me from taking on other work).
She asked me if I wanted to reduce my hours from full time to part time! Lady, YOU DON'T PAY ME FOR FULL TIME!
I swear, if you want something, pay for it.
