Are there any penalties for not providing 2 weeks notice in the US when resigning?
I see plenty of people here talking about giving / not giving 2 weeks notice. Which seems strange to me.
Because at least here in Australia if you don’t provide at least 2 weeks notice as a full time employee. The employer is within their legal right to withhold any paid leave you have built up and not pay it out. Which is why I’ve never not given 2 weeks notice, as I don’t want to have that money withheld.
And in fact, depending on how many years you’ve worked a job, you can be required to provide more than 2 weeks notice, or lose out on your built up paid leave.
