A few months ago my company completely revamped the monthly bonus structure for my dept and didn't inform us that anything had changed. It took us 2 months to notice the adjustment and at first we thought it was a mistake. We were reprimanded for inquiring about it and we honestly thought payroll had made an error. They said in our contract they have the right to adjust and even withhold bonuses, and they dont have to tell us. I understand it's in my contract but shouldn't they at least send out a memo that a change is coming? My dept has a low base salary and rely on our monthly “bonus”. Mind you, the bonus is dependant on our sales and now we need to perform and work so much harder for less. People have quit due to the lack of transparency…. and frankly other jobs out there have a higher base salary so you don't have to work yourself to death just to make a decent living.
