Friend got hit by walkie stacker and sustained back injury, what can he do you get the most out of the situation?

We are in California Friend of mine was chillin at work and driving in his own walkie when someone rammed into him and gave him a back injury. He said the first week was terrible and that his left leg and foot would feel numb sometimes, as well as that now he has many more headaches. He feels two right balls in his lower back and he’s still expected to work but was given lighter responsibilities. What can he do in this situation? The company doctor just did an x-ray and said he was fine but an x-ray isn’t gonna show muscle damage.
