hey i’ve been working as a kindergarten teacher for two years now. this is a local religious-based school and the religious community is pretty small in the city so staff see each other at social events or ‘ethnic’ stores.
on the last day of school abt two months ago, when all the teachers went to the office to sign the contract for next year, i was told by a board member that they needed to review an evaluation report before renewing the contract. they said this would happen in a couple of days. nothing happened until three weeks later when i was kicked out the group chat and i saw that my school email was deactivated. i called the board member about it. he said that they did that to anyone who didn’t renew the contract and that he got the report but will review it next year. still haven’t heard of them.
today a former student’s parent (who’s also a distant family friend) texted me asking if i left the school because they posted to their fb page that they’re hiring kindergarten teacher (btw this is a k-12 school with barely 150 students so we only have 1 home room teacher per grade). i was really upset when i saw that. because if they wanted to fire me they could’ve just said so instead of letting me be the last person to know about it.
plus, the school still owes me an amount of money that i was never reimbursed for end-of-year activities for the kids last year. i plan on calling the board member tomorrow to demand my refund but also i don’t know what if else to say. i don’t want to be emotional or raise my voice
tldr: school said they’re waiting on an evaluation before renewing my contract and now post they’re hiring online and they still owe me money. what do i do?
