To be concise, I was offered a position last month after interviewing with a healthcare entity out west. (the 21st to be exact) I interviewed for this per diem role, that was advertised to have an “8k sign on bonus,” and was verbally offered the position by the department manager. Shortly after accepting the position, I noticed the job posting changed to a simple, “on call, days” role.
In the last couple of weeks, I've been told that the healthcare entity was changing over the HR IT system. I haven't received an official offer in writing, despite receiving reassurances from the manager that I would be “soon.” I've done my part and reached out to them at least once per week to check their status.
Two days ago, I receive another message from that manager saying the HR IT migration is complete, and I need to reapply because my application is no longer in the new system. I inquire if the sign-on bonus is still on the table. They reply that the sign-on bonus was never on the table, and that must've been a mistake in the “old” system. “Hopefully that doesn't dissuade you from taking the position.”
Since I only have a verbal and the screenshots of the original job posting, is there any way that I can push back or call them on this obvious bait-and-switch? It really pisses me off when employers pull this kind of BS to drum up interest in a position they have no intention of actually honoring once they find a suitable candidate. Especially when they do it to nurses. This is a large healthcare corporation (not Kaiser, surprisingly). Is there any way I can turn the tables on them? I'd love to respond to this so savagely they never do this again.
