Minimum Wage Evening Valet Where Managers Stole or Kept Tips For Themselves. Luxury Resort Hotel.

So I used to work while finished my bachelors, at a fancy resort in what is a somewhat sleepy town where my university resides. Anyways, minimum wage back then 2016 was 11/hr, which was “progressive” for the time. It also included tips, to be divided between all crew at the end of each shift. Morning crew made the most money because all they did was checkouts and that’s when 99% of people tip, unless they’re coming in with lots of bags. On the evening shift, you’re parking cars, and only made major bank during events at the convention center or performing arts theater across the street. Our managers for this shift would keep 4-5 of us on shift for the first few hours, making sure everyone is parking every car they can. Once the events are underway, they cut us all loose and divide between the two of them hundreds…

Anyways, the next day I drove my car into the morning valet entrance for customers, gave the manager my uniforms like I’m at a drive thru, and smiled as I looked away.

Fuck that.
