How bad is it to be fired vs to quit?

I have a manager coming back who everyone was very glad left. I work at a restaurant, and a lot of ppl are leaving for school soon, and I am reducing my hours for school, so i’m worried about being over scheduled. I was thinking if push comes to shove, instead of simply quitting I will just tell my manager I cannot come in for a shift and (if i can’t find anyone to cover it) I just won’t be there. This is because school is my priority and I will quit if I am being overwhelmed with shifts, but i figured instead of quitting, could i just say I won’t come in for shifts. The only thing is if this makes me get fired and how much worse that could be. If i have my two weeks notice printed out can i just say “you can’t fire me i…
