Today was my third day at a new job. I normally take city transit but I’ve been tired af after the last few days and it’s a two hour bus ride. So I decide to take a $30/20min Uber to get to the agreed upon meeting place to catch some chartered bus out to a job site. Bus pulls up for a different site. It leaves. No one else is around so I wait a couple minutes before messaging the scheduling manager. Apparently He messed up, I was supposed to be on that original bus.
I get the message “Come to the warehouse, and you can catch a ride to the site with someone from here”
I grab another $10 Uber to the warehouse. A block from the warehouse he messages me to go back and wait at the original meeting spot because some stragglers missed the chartered bus too. Another $10 to get back.
Once I get back there’s no one around. I message him asking when I can expect the bus to get back. Apparently the bus left without me AGAIN.
I tell him that I suppose I’ll be taking the day off.
Him “You don’t want to work then?”
I want to. I’m PISSED.
Me “I’m quite… angry”
Hollow apologies were made. An offer to help me apply to expense my $20 Uber receipt is made. (I know how this goes, the likelihood of approval for expensing their fuckup is 100% of zero)
As I was getting on city transit home, he calls and offers me another alternate lift out to the job site. I just about threw my phone into traffic.
As I start my ride home I tell him, “I’ll be back here waiting for my ride tomorrow morning.”
I like this job. A lot. It’s hard work but I genuinely enjoy it. That said, If I didn’t NEED the money right now I’d be firing them without a single thought. I literally overdrew my account just to get to this job today.
I’m still pissed off more than 7 hours later.
I don’t know what else to do other than suck it up. 🤷️
