It should only be considered a tip if its in addition to a full living wage, otherwise its just a charitable donation.

If someone is paid a livable wage and I think they went over and above to the point where I feel they have earned more money, that is a tip. If someone is earning €2/ hour, and I give money, thats just a charitable donation but with a sense of societal obligation…..that obligation should be on the employer. Businesses know they don't have to pay livable wages when the wage of the employee is being subsidised by the customer
