Today the office manager pulled me into a back office to discuss something that happened at work a few days ago. She said “you're not in trouble” as she cheerily closed the door. It ended with her blocking the exit with her chair.
Basically, I dig around the computers all the time at work because they're a mess and it's impossible to find anything. I work in a medical office and came across files on my coworker. One was an old work picture which we laughed about. The next was her SS and routing number. A coworker asked me to search for his and I found the same information. I immediately told our IT guy and he made the info private. Fast forward to today when my office manager wants to discuss it. She starts by asking what I saw, then asks why I would invade someone's privacy by searching their name. I said I shouldn't even be able to access anything of that nature from the public drive that EVERY computer has access to. She had the nerve to say “you searched it so that was on you wasn't it?” I stood up to walk out because she was basically trying to get me to take the blame for their carelessness. She rolled her chair in front of the door and said that I wasn't going ANYWHERE. I was shocked. I told her I was leaving and she smugly said “no you're not, sit down.” I refused and after a minute she moved and followed me to the practice owner's office. “I'm going to Dr.X's office too!” she yelled down the hall. I'm like ok great? I don't care. I told her I was uncomfortable and she said that's fine and tried to get me to go into ANOTHER room alone with her. I refused. She told the Doctor everyone saw everyone's pay and the whole department was going to quit because of me. No ones pay was even accessed and no one said they were quitting! The Doctor/Practice owner said it was blown out of proportion and I wasn't in trouble. I cried for over an hour throughout this whole ordeal. Just needed to rant.
