Fighting fire with fire

I work in HR in long term care and I’m unfortunately responsible for scheduling which is a nightmare given the economy and we are currently in COVID outbreak so many staff are out sick while our residents are also positive and we need extra staff. My position is 30 hours averaged a week is full time. I can set my own hours, i can work from home if the weather is bad or I don’t have daycare last minute etc. I have a one year old who attends in home daycare. They had a meeting with me a month or so ago addressing a couple concerns and one of them stated “work from home days need to be minimized.” The only time I’ve worked from home is when my daughter is sick or daycare is closed. I never miss for any other reason and I’ve never just taken a day off I always work from home.
Daycare lady texted this morning saying she doesn’t feel well and won’t be open. I guess I will just have to call in since I can’t work from home. It’s too bad the schedule needs to be posted on Monday and Wednesday is my last day before I start in-home daycare myself full time.

Don’t want me to work from home? Deal I won’t work at all. Thanks for the three day weekend boss and for covering for me all day. 🙂
