Question about starting small businesses

Having read many, many posts on /r/antiwork about the absolutely garbage conditions most workers face with their employers who are mostly large corporations, it seems to me that conditions are ripe for small businesses to be started up where employees are treated fairly, and offer an alternative for spending money at the big box businesses. I know most of us don't have money to invest in a business startup, so maybe there are options for doing it like a community co-op or something?
