Hospitality..

A year back I used to work for a hotel which was on a full occupancy most of the time. Despite making good money I was terribly sad and depressed. Bad management, no respect for people’s personal life and privacy and above all what ever you do is never enough. I remember having only one day off and if I dare asking to change my day off for any other day despite having the choice they would make such a drama. I recall once I had to take my day off one day earlier as we were expecting to receive the owner’s management in the hotel, I remember that the duty manager looked at me and told me : ‘ I wander what you’re getting paid for…’ expecting me most probably to work 24h and 7 days a week as he does… I will never forget how I cried when…

Also, they would call me hundred of times in the middle of the night if there is a client, even if there is no emergency they would call me always on offs, outside my working hours…

When I resigned I went from 48kg to 56, never been this healthy and happy. Two days off and management that respects people’s privacy .

Anyone working in a hotel ? How’s your life like ? Was I the only one experiencing such ?
