today i had an interview with a company who did not disclose pay in their job listing. and when i asked about it, they told me it was unprofessional to ask and that can be discussed in the contract.
that to me is a red flag. so i said, (paraphrasing) “respectfully, i'd like my potential employer to be as open and honest with me as i am with you. if i am to just take your word for it, how will i know you have any respect for me? the question in and of it self should establish trust if we are honest with each other from the beginning.”
she was taken aback, and since it was over zoom, i decided to end the interview and not pursue the position any further. seriously. dont apply for a job unless they can respect you.
