Salary Discrepancy

Background: I Started working at a start-up 3 months ago. A coworker and I got into the taboo conversation of salary… I was absolutely shocked to find out that they make $65,000 more than me. A coworker and I got into the taboo conversation of salary…

I was absolutely shocked to find out that they make $65,000 more than me. We both hold the same position with similar experience in our prior work.

This taught me that I was absolutely terrible at negotiating. During my interview they refused to give me a salary range and I fell for the trap. It’s my fault 100%

Long story short I find out that out of the 5 of us with this position, I am the only one that didn’t negotiate correctly. The rest have a similar salary to the coworker above.

So here is my question. Is there anything I can do to renegotiate my salary? Obviously I would never speak about private coworker conversations.

They are currently hiring someone new for a different product specialty (same role with different focus but essentially the same
Job). I was also told The range for that position is 50-65k higher than me.

I was thinking about going to my boss and saying I’m interested in that role… so I can say that I was shocked that that range was so much different than my salary. Is this stupid?

Thank you!
