A buddy who works at a sandwich food chain told me about this. From my understanding, every hourly wage employee took a pay cut as the restaurant started asking for tips at checkout.
What’s the solution here? I can’t help but feel like part of the problem as I usually tip everywhere I go that offers. But I didn’t assume that I was supplementing their actual wage. Now I feel like I shouldn’t tip so often, but that only hurts the worker.
Was I the only naïve one who assumed tipping was only supplementing servers, and not every other food worker.
