How do I handle pay negotiation with my employer after becoming chartered?

Backstory: I recently became chartered with a professional body, when I joined the company I signed a contract which gave me £54,000 when I achieved this chartered status. But.. I’ve been discussing this with my colleague who is already chartered, but he is chartered with a less prestigious charter and one less difficult to get and he’s confirmed he is on £55,000 and he also understands that my chartership should gain a higher salary than what he is on. I haven’t had an offer from my manager yet detailing the salary but, I would want it to be at least £60,000 as that would maintain a good differential between the two qualifications. I would like to think I’ll be offered what I want but I doubt they will. But how do I ask for this salary without telling my manager that me and my colleague discuss salaries.
