My wife finally put in her two weeks at her place of employment and starts a new job after next week. Her boss, who she has historically had a great relationship pulled her in this morning and said she needs to be on time the last week and no slacking off. He needs her there 7-5 even though they have given all her projects away and things are slow. He told her she could make today her last day earlier in the week as well. This seems to me that they are trying to get her to quit to not pay her the last week, but the hangup is benefits otherwise we would quit. The manufacturing schedule is 7-5 p.m., but all of the salary employees arrive closer to 8 and tend to leave early. I think if she is late next week they may work to fire her to save on expenses. They have worked with us and let her come in around 8 a.m. due to us having two kids and exceptions made for others. All of the other staff does not have this new requirement. She has saved the company millions in her ten years there and has never gotten an actual raise above inflation. She was offered a management position and turned it down because they offered her less than her predecessor and were not back filling her position. This is one of the largest automotive manufacturers in the world. They would not give her 5k more to take the position and showed savings in salary expenses above $350,000 so far only this year. They are in the plus on their overall budget over 1 million.
