Company is “moving” half the accounting department into stores to stock shelves

My sister does accounting for a local grocery store chain. Earlier this week, they had interviews with each member of the accounting department and asked them a bunch of questions to see if they are a good “fit” for the jobs they ALREADY HAVE. Most of them have been there for 4+ years. Anyone not chosen to keep their jobs will be moved to stock shelves in the stores instead. Also, it could be any store the company wants. Salary changes have not been discussed. Oh, the company also said that if they choose to not go into their newly assigned duties, it means that they don't want to work. This, as expected, made my sister pretty mad. As a last power move, they are asking the whole department to come in to work tomorrow (Saturday) so that they can tell them their decision. My sister is really stressed now…

My sister is really stressed now and I have lost all respect for companies.

Edit to add: The accounting department is already understaffed. Those working there are already struggling to keep up so if you get to keep your job, you still have to do the jobs of at least 2.5 people.
