I work as a line cook. I was hired to work mornings on the weekends and dinner shifts during the week. I got my schedule this last Friday and saw that my 40 hour work week got cut down to 15 hours because a new guy was hired and they are giving him my old hours. I recently got married so my wife and I don’t have a lot of money to begin with, so for the chef to just come out and do this to me without telling me beforehand was honestly a slap in the face. I have already given my two weeks notice and have gotten another job so hopefully this new place will honor and respect me as an individual with responsibilities and priorities instead of just somebody who cooks for them.
