I live in Ireland. As my username suggests, I make wood pendants.
Because I've been 'unemployed' (stay at home dad with an Etsy shop) so long, the Department of Social Protection insisted I get a job.
So I made my little business official.
Only to be penalised for doing the right thing!
If I earn the same money from a normal job I would pay no income tax at all.
But show just a little initiative and guess what? They screw you into the ground.
Income tax, corporate tax, rate tax… there's probably a tax on taxes.
I feel like giving up, but going back to being unemployed will mean I get nothing.
Rock, meet hard place.
Sorry for venting, you are all awesome.
