Remembering an argument I had with my boss a few years ago

A few ears ago I was working a summer job as a busboy till I went back to college. It was early August and I knew I was never going to come back to this place after I went away again. It was a country sports bar and grill that got pretty packed on weekends. We were at a 'staff meeting' which was basically the manager taking us all out back near the dupster before open and yelling about what she didn't like. That day's topic was one that was brought up a lot she said something like, “I called (name drop here) to pick up and extra shift on the grill and he said no. This isn't acceptable…” She then went into her usual threat which was that she would close down the kitchen peranently and everyone in the back of the house would be out of a job…

This isn't acceptable…”

She then went into her usual threat which was that she would close down the kitchen peranently and everyone in the back of the house would be out of a job if this continuted because she and I quote “didn't make money off it anyway”. Because she brought this brilliant point up so much I had an answer ready for her. I told her something like;

“Thats like saying you don't make money off the food at a baseball game. Maybe you don't but way less people are coming to the game if you don't have food”. She asked me if i wanted to take that back and i said “which part” everyone started cracking up and she told me to go home. I laughed and walked out.

Not the slam dunk I wanted but still pretty hilarious. Moral of the story; if you are in the position to say 'fuck this job', do it.
