Recruiters take note – our time has value, too

I have job experience and certifications that are highly sought after and very desirable to those that either don’t have a “me” at their location, or lost one due to competition. They also take about 4 months to get, and cost many thousands of dollars. I was not looking for a new job currently, but I made a pact with myself that if I received legit offers, that I’d at minimum consider them. I was not looking for a new job currently, but I made a pact with myself that if I received legit offers, that I’d at minimum consider them. This is because I stayed at my last job for many years, and came to find out that I was underpaid by 30% bc of it.

A recruiter reached out to me and asked if I’d be willing to get on a call, so I agreed. We spoke back and forth and set a time. It was to be after my work day, and this was agreed upon. The time was changed the throughout the day TWICE, and then I realized about an hour after the final time change that there was no call. I got busy doing other things, so when I went back to my phone I had a new message stating that the meeting had to be changed for the next day.

Listen I get it. We’re all hustling here, but this isn’t even the first recruiter to do this or nearly exactly the same. If we had prior rapport it’d probably be different, but I essentially got ghosted on a first date.
