Hopefully this is the right place to post, sorry if it’s not.
So earlier this year I was dealing with some things and made a huge mistake that lead to two misdemeanor charges. (DUI and paraphernalia). I wasn’t driving just sitting in my car waiting for a ride. Still my fault and a huge uncharacteristic mistake.) I lost my job and have destroyed my sales career due to these mistakes.
So the last few months I’ve been in the job market looking for jobs just trying to find something that will almost cover my family’s bills. Had an interview for a job that would pay me a quarter of what I was previously making in a coordinator type role with the discussion of moving back to sales for the company in two years. I have a pretty good resume and history of achieving numbers and was definitely over qualified for the position but was happy to receive the offer with the chance to get back into sales once I prove myself.
The day after I’m offered the position I call the VP and explain my background, how I have worked past the mistake and that it will in no way affect my performance. The VP states that everyone makes mistakes and that he is fine with it and happy to have me on board.
Two weeks go by, and at 1am I get an email from the background check stating the offer is rescinded. I’ve tried to call the company and have been totally ghosted. I understand being disqualified for the position but after having a personal phone call with the VP, I think at least a call to let me know would have been appropriate. Now left worried I’ll never find another job…
