My job wanted me to use my personal cell phone to call people in hotel rooms because all of the phones at the hotel are down.

I work at a hotel restaurant. Apparently, all of the phones in the hotel doesn’t work. Okay, whatever. Later this afternoon, the front desk workers kept giving me a few numbers to call people for reservations, which I was confused about since the hotel phones don’t work. Then, one of the front desk workers tells me that a hotel guest wants me to use my personal cell phone to call their room number to take their in-room delivery order. I told the front desk worker that I’m not going to do that at all. Either the people have to wait for the hotel phones to work or they can come to me. A few minutes later, one of the front desk managers comes over to give me another paper of a name and number, and tells me to call them from my cell phone. As I started to tell her…

Has anyone else ever been told to use their own cell phone to call customers at their job? I’m not sure if that’s illegal or not, but I think that was very stupid for them to tell me that.
