Was going to start a new job today. Wasn't glamorous, sales associate at an adult shop that seemed more like the place where people just go to jack off to porn and we'd clean up after them.
Carpeted front area for God know why, I was anxious, nervous, forgot it'd be better to phone ahead and say I was going to be late because an Uber was going to be a longer time away than I thought it was going to be. I arrive, ready to work. Find the manager, show up, say I'm ready, he asked, “How's your day?” and pretty much follows it with, “Yeah, okay, whatever. We're going to pass on you. We'll call you next time if we're interested in you, but it's a pass.”
Didn't even offer a second chance to see if it was just new-job-jitters and see if I can do better. Just told to shove off, thank you, bye.
Fuck that. If I can't even be offered a second chance, get someone else to man the jizz mops.
I'll find somewhere else then, I hate the rat race, but it's better than having my head chopped off for a minor fucking infraction. People are late sometimes, people make stupid mistakes, but it shouldn't cost them a job opportunity for ONE time.
