I found out yesterday that everyone in my department except for me got an $8,000 bonus in July (about 10% of our annual salaries). The only difference between me and them is that I have been taking advantage of our work from home policy, and I'm only in the office 10% of the time while everyone else is in the office at least 50% of the time.
At my last performance review, I was told that I was an average employee for our department (fine by me), but that I was the top WFH employee because apparently I was the only one getting my work done during the whole pandemic. I guess this is how they thank me…
My manager is awesome, but the manager 3 levels above me has an “old fashioned” (read: obsolete) mindset, and he's been strongly requesting that we spend at least 50% of our time on site. I think that request is reasonable for the WFH underperformed, but why punish me for their inability to focus on work at home? So I've been taking advantage of our company's policies that allow WFH.
I'm pretty sure the upper manager is targeting people like me, but since we aren't doing anything against company policy, he can't directly punish us, so I guess he's not rewarding us instead. And by “us”, I mean “me”, unless there are people in other departments who are also affected.
