Boss says he’s going to try to bump me up $1.50/hr… so I’ll still be making $.50 less than the new hires

I’ve worked at a locally owned factory for a year and a half, the owner is here in the office every day, and he is the one who determines who gets payed how much. They tell everyone not to discuss wages or you’ll stop getting decent raises. My boss (plant manager/supervisor) does the reviews and goes over them with the owner. They’ve been delaying this years reviews for about 4 months, and one of the guys that just started 2 weeks ago told me he started at $2/hr more than I make. I talked to my boss about it without telling him that my coworker told me his wage, and my boss lied and said they weren’t hiring at that rate. He said when he gets the reviews done, he’s going to get me a $1.50 raise, so I’ll still be making less than the guy I’m training. I need…
