So I'm looking for a new job and kind of irritated that I have to find a job that suits my needs. I am tired of seeing places “urgently hiring” and then never getting a call back.
It honestly should work in reverse. Like it should be socially acceptable to post an ad saying “Hi I'm Joe, I have 5 years of customer service experience, I have a background in tech and health information. I have a Bachelor's degree. I need a job that pays 60k a year with annual bonuses for inflation and for retention. I want 20 vacation days, holidays off, unlimited sick leave. I also want health benefits with co pay no bigger then $15. I want free vision and dental. Also I require a 4 day work week and want to be off of work by 3 everyday.”
If companies are so desperate for workers, they should bend to our will. They should have to shop around for different workers, and decide if it's better to high joe with a masters for more money or john with a Bachelor's that will require training for less money. Instead of this process of not hearing back from places, doing canidate interviews and narrowing selection process. No, fuck you, you want labor, this is the price tag, take it or leave it. Why do I have to bend to what the employer has to offer? How about the company bends to our will?
