Can poverty cause mental illness or is it the other way around?

I think one could argue that the reason someone is poor in the first place is because they have mental health issues. I think there are many non-genetic mental illnesses such as ptsd, paranoia, depression, anxiety, and others that can form as a result of living in poverty and working a low pay/high stress job. I even feel a sense of dread whenever I enter into establishments like the ones I worked in the past. I also think that when you deal with so many rude/nasty ppl that it really changes the way you see the world. It’s almost like a weight ppl carry. I see ppl who come from privileged backgrounds and those who grew up poor, and they have completely different perspectives on the world. I think those that came from a more privileged background tend to have a more positive outlook due to them not having to…
