I felt unwell yesterday and woke up today vomiting i tried calling my work THREE times but nobody picked up so i texted my manager and after waiting for a response she told me i needed a doctors certificate.
My contract states that I don’t have to produce a certificate unless it has been three consecutive days of illness unless they believe the illness isn’t genuine in which case they can but the doctors bill is charged to them I told my manager i would get an appointment as soon as i could and asked for the company’s billing information and she said that i have to pay it myself i told her i didn’t as per my contract as this is going on i am texting my mother screenshots of this Im 18 and this is my first full time job and I’m very upset and confused.
My manager then told me that the leave i applied for at the end of the month counts as my three days and took a picture of my contract and highlighted the part where it says a doctors note is required after three consecutive days at the employees expense. I sent back a response telling her what consecutive means and said i wouldn’t be discussing this any further.
I have asked for a meeting with my stores HR type person I cannot believe that this is happening I’m honestly so upset i feel like i did nothing wrong.
