I (30m) recently started a new job. While going through the motions i was asking about vacation and bonuses ect… i was told its great! They have an unlimited vacation policy. I was sold as it was up to the employee, as long as they got their work done they could take as much time off they wanted. I thought this sounded great. Give me autonomy to be at home every now and again to do things i need. Well i started the job and this was not the case at all. My boss doesn’t allow any vacation at all basically. He said since i am new i don’t get more than 1 week vacation a year since I’m new for like 10 years. This is insane. At least before i would earn vacation and it wasn’t up to my boss. I was able to cash in extra vacation time. Im pretty upset. Everyone markets this as such a good thing but i feel so so screwed over. Watch out for “unlimited” vacation, its just to screw you out of taking time off and money.
