Throwaway account because my normal account is too close to my name and I'm paranoid.
I've taken the first steps in starting a union at my work. I've been talking with a union organizer and started a plan. My first job is to try and get a few trusted people to join in my efforts in trying to get people to sign union cards. So this coming week I'll have to figure out how to talk with the people I think I can trust and try to convince them to take a chance and meet with the union organizer to talk about the second stage. When that's done, we can start getting union cards signed which is going to be stressful.
Anyone got tips or experience on the early stages of starting a union? The union organizer already told me to not to talk about unions on the clock and told me to be a model employee as long as I can. I'm not worried about losing the job, but anyone associated with me will be at risk and probably can't afford to lose their it income.
