Preface: I'm employed at an internationally branded and recognized service station, I personally am employed at a station in MS….
My manager and I do not see eye to eye on certain things… when she clocks out and leaves, she wants to be left alone. However, corporate has a “5 minute rule” regarding certain things (contact your immediate manager under XXX circumstance, if no response in 5 minutes, step up the chain of command) for serious stuff like robbery, assault on a customer or employee, power/water outage, fuel leak, nonfunctioning pump, etc; but also for minor stuff as well (soda machine being out of order, hot dog grill being out of order, etc).
In light of that, when something goes wrong, I contact her. If something at that store is out of order, in any capacity, she needs to know. It is literally her job to ensure that station is in working order, and take the appropriate steps to remedy any issues at the station. She is on call 24/7/365, whether she's clocked in or not.
She doesn't view it like me… unless it something truly serious, she doesn't want to be bothered, at all. You best have a very good reason for annoying her off the clock.
What am I to do ?
