You won’t give up your time with your children but expect me to give up mine?

I’m currently interviewing to return to work. It was school holidays here in my area of the last week therefore my children were not at school. I arranged a day of childcare and arranged all my interviews for that day. I had received a call from a recruiter about a role the week before. I’m currently interviewing to return to work. It was school holidays here in my area of the last week therefore my children were not at school.

I arranged a day of childcare and arranged all my interviews for that day. I had received a call from a recruiter about a role the week before. For starters they said they had read my CV and thought it was suitable. They then explained the role and asked my availability – I told them my availability.

I got an email asking for my CV ?! Which I sent. Heard nothing. Got on with my other interviews. Then on the day of my interviews this recruiter calls and says they want to interview me on Friday. I said I was not available on Friday. I said I had arranged a day trip with my children and that I had advised of my availability. The recruiter said that they had thought it was Friday (clearly listening issues) and asked if I could cut short my day trip to interview.

I said no I had plans and bought tickets and promised my children. I said I was happy to go in and meet with the same day. The recruiter said I really needed to be more flexible and that the employer had been off to spend time with his children during half term and therefore not available.

Hang on.. why are his children and his plans more important than mine?
