I don’t really expect this to go anywhere, it’s my first post on this sub. I have been lurking for a while though. Hello r/antiwork! I just needed to share this with people who might give advice or just understand.
My boss had a 30 minute meltdown they called a meeting yesterday, in which they told us we did not work hard and that’s why they had to stay till midnight most nights.
They said, in the same breath, that we needed to ask questions if we weren’t sure of something, and then said, “Stop interrupting people to ask questions. It’s such a waste of time to have to stop to help, it’s easier to make mistakes that way because you forget what you’re doing, and none of us have time for that.”
The cherry on top of this meltdown was when they said even though Covid is still “a thing” they would really like it if we stopped getting sick and proceeded to tell us what to do in our free time to mitigate chances of getting it.
The whole thing felt like a personal attack, but that last one probably felt the most personal as I have just gotten over Covid a couple weeks ago (I’m vaccinated and boosted and I still wear a mask in public places) and so have a lot of people in the office. It is still a “thing”, and a global pandemic feels pretty well out of my control.
Am I crazy? Is there any protection against these emotional outbursts? (Not the first time this has happened.)
