Fake ass bosses

So, I’ve been at this company for nearly two years and have endured an incredible amount of emotional abuse from one of my bosses. I work maybe 55-60 hours a week, constantly on call after “work hours” and on weekends, so you can only imagine how burnout might come very quickly. I’ve put my heart and soul into this company and they seem to not care whatsoever. I’m in an industry where you’re expected to take care of certain emails as soon as they come in or as soon as something urgent comes up for a client, you drop everything to fix it. This is paired with management who over use and over work their assistants in the name of giving them “hands on experience”—-which includes a lot of personal tasks for your boss.

I’ve been at this company for nearly 6 years and somehow still not making what I should be making compared to others in similar positions in other companies. They try to trick you into thinking that overtime hours will help supplement the low wage, but after taxes it’s almost like working overtime wasn’t worth it.

After months of no life, working pay check to pay check (not all my job’s fault), and being treated in ways that should not be accepted in any industry, I decided to look for other opportunities. Before I even received an offer, I let my bosses know I was not happy in my position and felt like I needed to make a change…thinking they’d maybe try to work with me to find out what they could do to improve the situation.

Weeks pass and I never heard a single follow up other than “we should talk about this again!” a week later. Not surprising whatsoever because these people only care about the money their clients make them.

Little did they know, I was applying and interviewing at a few places hoping to land an offer at some point. I did not feel comfortable telling them in case they would retaliate in some way…which I was correct.
FINALLY received an offer a few weeks ago and had to put my two weeks notice in and ever since then my bosses has been even more distant than before. Hardly saying hello to me when they walk in, not acknowledging me at all, etc. Hardly bothered by it since I’m leaving, but still fucking insane.

I also found out one of them called me entitled and has not even really acknowledged me leaving in a few days.
This is the exact reason I didn’t want to tell them I was interviewing. This is why everyone is scared to tell companies they want to leave. Instead of trying to fix the problem, they treat you like you’re the problem…no matter how long you’ve been there.

All this to say, protect yourself and always seek out what the best opportunity is for you. More money. Better treatment. Work life balance. Do what is best for you and don’t settle for any less (if you can).

This thread has inspired me to put myself first when it comes to work and I am forever grateful. Thank you.
