Retaliation because we don’t want last minute mandatory 14+ hr shifts. Info below

Manager decided the day of that everyone in the store needed to stay behind for a 2+ hour meeting, and those who were off needed to come in with no notice. When I pointed out that it was inconsiderate (and in the gc that many wouldn't be able to attend due to premade plans, transportation, fatigue, unavailable on that day, etc), he got upset and started talking about how “everyone needs to make sacrifices”… except for him. Our area manager agreed with me and canceled the meeting, and then had trouble planning a new one because my manager didn't want to give up his day off… but was perfectly fine making half of our staff give up theirs (thus the “zero days off?” line). Oh, and the line about the meeting being last minute because it was a result of the performance reviews we got while he was gone is…

Oh, and the line about the meeting being last minute because it was a result of the performance reviews we got while he was gone is BS. My area manager revealed he told him to schedule it several weeks ago, my manger is just a poor planner and an asshat. Reported it to HR and was told that while they also hate him and issued a final written warning, they can't do anything else until there's someone to replace him.

Oh, and no one got to take a break that day.
