I work for a very large fortune 5 company in a sr. director role, my boss had a heart attack and the company assumed it was caused by stress so they did a classic “restructure” and shifted a VP with ZERO experience in our field into his role. (This VP also LOATHED my previous VP, meaning she already didn’t like any of us for no reason).
I had 15 employees under me and within a week this new VP either laid my team members off, or shifted them into roles which are completely bizarre and irrelevant to their experience and our department – Positions that don’t even exist in the real world, because she does not know how our department works – Everything she says in zoom calls starts with “I binged this” (WHO USES BING???) or “my 13 year old son really knows the market so we’re going to do this” it’s absolute chaos.
After 7 days I had no employees and a ridiculous workload to make up for it..I even reached out to HR to let them know this is unprecedented and I feel like this new VP is eliminating roles to push me out, where HR assured me I am an “asset” and that wouldn’t happen.
What’s even more strange is that I just had a conversation with our CEO a week prior about a promotion which I didn’t even ask for.
Today I log into a zoom call and legal, HR, and my new VP are on (knew this wasn’t good) and was notified that my position has been terminated. Within seconds of this call ending my entire home workstation was shut down and locked out.
To make things worse the severance they offered is total dog shit (1 weeks pay) in comparison to what my salary is (was).
