My company does this thing where they periodically open up a company store thing (vendor runs it) that we can buy things from. Last year they gave us $100 to spend in there. That was fine, could pick up some shirts for work on their dime. They also had things like water bottles, company-branded Northface fleeces, etc. This year it's back and they aren't giving us any cash to spend. Why would anyone want to buy a $30 company-branded polo when I can just go buy a polo without their name on it for less? And if I leave the company now I have clothes I can't wear to a new job. It's just so strange to me.
