So I worked as a florists at a grocery store popular down south called Piggly Wiggly. Now I have zero experience being a florists and both managers knew this when hiring me. But everyday when I came into work there was something I didn't do correctly and “You should know better.” How can I know better when I never been a florists and I hardly been trained enough to do this job.
So I had two managers. I had Sallg who was my direct manager she looked after everything in the floral department then there was Miss Ann she was the Manager of the Bakery AND floral, does that make sense no, no it does not. I worked there for 4 months and I really tried my hardest until I realized my hardest was got going to be good enough for them.
Every day if I didn't water the plants fast enough, I got yelled at, if I didnt make enough arrangements fast enough I got yelled at, if we ran low on supplies I was yelled at (when it is not my responsibility to order more supplies). It seemed like anything and everything I did was wrong. And the worst part of it was when Sally would tell me to do something one way then Miss Ann woukd come up later telling me to do it a different way, or reverse. I didn't know who to listen to and when.
Finally God blessed me with a way out if that hellhole. Before anyone ask why I just didn't quit and left because if I did my mom threaten to kick me out if I left this job without another one lined up. So thankfully I got another job lined up I passed the interview and they wanted me to start next week. So that day I accepted the job I went to Piggly Wiggly to talk to Miss Ann and tell her I'm leaving.
I told her my finance changed and I need more money and at this new job I was getting it, and it was more flexible to my schedule. I told Miss Ann I woukd stay to work when I could until she could replace me but she told me “no it's okay Sally can handle it.” But I did agree to stay for the last few days she scheduled me. (Which was a nightmare).
So when I finally left that firday leaving Piggly Wiggly behind to my new job. A friend at that store I made texted me three days into my new job saying Miss Ann tried to lie to the Store Manager that I told her firday I was leaving and never came back, that I was disrespectful, I lied about anything, and I was lazy at work. Thankfully my friend who was also a Manager stepped in and told Store Manager the truth the fact I came to her when I accepted my new job, told Miss Ann I would stay until she replaced me, and I worked one more week before leaving.
Not long after Miss Ann was let go do to some internal Conflict that was happening never found out what happened. And I'm two years into the job I went to and still love much more!
