Free cakes/doughnuts at work

I've always worked minimum wage, but having graduated recently I've worked in two offices and I'm surprised at how aggressively sugary foods are pushed onto staff. There's cake date every Tuesday, cookies passed around after lunch and doughnuts when it's a birthday. I love all those things and don't buy it for myself so it's very hard to say no when it's offered by people you're trying to make a good impression on. It seems to me that theres a culture encouraging a sugar rush as well as the caffeine hit. What do you guys think?
